Snapped Torsion Spring
Loud bang from the garage and the door won't lift. The horizontal spring above the door has fractured — full tension released in an instant. Same-day replacement, never repair.
Broken Extension Spring
Side-mounted springs (one or both) have snapped. Common on older Sydney homes with tilt or basic sectional doors. Always replaced in pairs for safety and balance.
Door Suddenly Too Heavy to Lift
Door feels four times its normal weight overnight. A spring has lost tension or fractured internally — even if it looks intact. Never force the door open by hand.
Visible Gap or Break in Spring Coil
You can see a 1–2 inch gap in the spring coil where it should be tight. The spring is finished. Full replacement required — don't operate the door until we arrive.

One Side of the Door Drops or Tilts

Loud metallic squealing or grinding during operation. Springs are ageing and friction-stressed, often within months of failure. Time to plan preventive replacement before they snap.
Visible Rust or Stretched Coils
Springs look rusty, stretched, or have visibly aged. Almost always 8–10+ years old and statistically due to fail. Preventive replacement is cheaper and safer than emergency callout.
