Emergency garage door repair SydneyDoor stuck or unsafe? Call us first.
Doors stuck open, snapped springs, cables off the drum and cars trapped inside. We prioritise doors that won’t close or aren’t safe, with emergency repairs across Sydney, including after hours where we can. A written fixed price before any work starts.
!If a spring has snapped or the door is hanging crooked, stop using it and keep everyone clear. Don’t lift it or pull the release cord. Call us first.
Tell us what is wrong
When the door fails, you need a real answer.
Garage doors break at the worst times. A spring lets go at six in the morning, the motor dies just before bed, or the door sticks open with the house behind it. In that moment you don’t need a booking form. You need someone who knows doors to pick up the phone and tell you what to do next.
That’s how our emergency service works. Call us first and a technician talks you through keeping the door, the car and your family safe, then we prioritise the jobs that can’t wait: doors that won’t close, doors that aren’t safe to touch and cars locked in. We work across Sydney, Wollongong and the Central Coast, including after hours where we can.
Our vans carry springs, cables, rollers and common opener parts, so most emergencies are fixed on the first visit. Before any work starts you get a written fixed price, and every repair is backed by our 1-Year Labour Warranty. If it can safely wait until the morning, we’ll tell you that too.
“Call us first. We’ll tell you straight if it can wait.”
Door broken? Here’s what to do.
Find your situation, follow the safe-now steps in the middle, then call. A broken door is at its most dangerous when someone tries to force it, so the first job is to leave it alone.
When your door breaks, you need people who pick up.
Plenty of companies say they do emergency work. Far fewer answer the phone, hold a fixed price and stand behind the repair. Here’s how we operate.
Is it an emergency?
If any of these sounds like your door right now, stop using it and call. We’ll tell you on the phone whether it needs someone today or can safely wait.
Spring snapped
A sudden loud bang and the door is now extremely heavy or won’t lift at all. Springs sit under very high tension. Don’t try to lift the door yourself.
URGENTDoor stuck open
The door won’t come down and the garage is open to the street. A security problem as well as a repair. Lock the internal door into the house.
URGENTCar trapped inside
The door won’t open and the car is behind it. Don’t force it or pull the release if a spring or cable is broken. We’ll talk you through it.
URGENTCable off the drum
The door is hanging at an angle, one side is higher than the other or a cable is visibly loose. The door is no longer safe to operate.
URGENTDoor off the track
A visible gap, a panel bowing or a door that won’t seal at the bottom. Often caused by a knock from the car or a roller failing.
URGENTDoor won’t close
The door reverses on the way down, stops short of the ground or stays up. Usually the safety sensors or a limit setting on the opener.
COMMONMotor or opener dead
The remote does nothing, the motor hums but doesn’t move, or there’s no power at all. Common across Merlin, B&D, ATA and Chamberlain units.
COMMONRemote or keypad stopped
The door works from the wall button but not the remote or keypad. Annoying rather than dangerous, and often a battery or a reprogram.
MINORFrom the phone call to a safe, working door.
Every emergency job runs the same four steps, so you know what’s happening from the moment you call.
Call or WhatsApp us
A technician picks up, not a call centre. Tell us what happened, or send a photo on WhatsApp, and we’ll work out what’s failed.
Safe-now advice
Before anything else we tell you how to keep the door, the car and your family safe, and book you in with doors that won’t close or aren’t safe prioritised.
Diagnose and price
On site we find the cause, explain it in plain words and give you a written fixed price before any tool comes out.
Repaired and tested
The repair is done with parts from the van, the door is safety-tested and cycled, and the work is backed by our 1-Year Labour Warranty.
An emergency quote should still be a fair one.
When you’re stressed it’s easy to say yes to anything. Here’s what separates a fair emergency job from one you regret.
The cheap quote
- ×A price that only appears once the job is finished
- ×Vague after-hours loadings nobody mentioned on the phone
- ×Pushed into a new door when a repair would do
- ×A quick patch that fails again within weeks
- ×Nothing in writing once the van has gone
The Gold Garage Door quote
- ✓Written fixed price before any work starts
- ✓Any after-hours cost shown in the quote before you agree
- ✓Repair first, replacement only if it truly makes sense
- ✓Parts matched to your door, then the door safety-tested
- ✓1-Year Labour Warranty plus manufacturer warranty on parts
Fixed. In writing.
Emergency repairs are priced on site once we’ve seen the fault. If the time of day affects the price, it’s in the written fixed price before you say yes, and nothing starts without your OK.
Four kinds of emergency call.
Snapped torsion or extension springs, frayed cables and cables off the drum. The most dangerous faults, and the ones we treat first.
Dead motors, stripped gears, power faults and openers that stop halfway. B&D, Merlin, ATA, Chamberlain and more.
Doors knocked off their tracks, bent rails, broken rollers and panels damaged by the car.
Doors stuck open overnight, doors that won’t lock down and doors that reverse before they close.

The questions people ask with a broken door.
Question not listed? Tell us your door brand and what you heard or saw. Call 0485 000 933.
How fast can you get to me in an emergency?
We prioritise doors that won’t close or aren’t safe, and most emergencies are fixed the same day across Sydney. Call 0485 000 933 and we’ll give you a real time on the phone, not a vague promise.
What actually counts as a garage door emergency?
A door stuck open, a door that won’t close, a snapped spring, a cable off the drum, a door off its track, a dead motor with the car inside, or anyone trapped. If you’re not sure, call us and we’ll tell you straight whether it can safely wait.
My spring just snapped. What do I do right now?
Stop using the door. Don’t try to lift it by hand, because the spring was carrying most of its weight and the door is now heavy and unsafe. If the car is inside, leave it for now. Call us; our vans carry replacement springs and the right tools.
My door is stuck open. Is my home secure?
Your garage, and any internal door from the garage into the house, is exposed. Lock that internal door and call us; we treat a door that won’t close as a priority. If you can, stay home until we arrive or arrange a temporary barrier.
My car is trapped inside. Can I pull the release cord?
Only if the springs and cables are intact and the door is level. If a spring has snapped or a cable is loose, pulling the release can let the door drop. Leave it and call us; we’ll talk you through it.
Do emergency repairs cost more?
Every emergency job is quoted as a written fixed price before any work begins. If the time of day affects the price, you’ll see it in that quote before you agree. What we quote is what you pay, with no padded parts and nothing added later.
Are you available after hours and on weekends?
We work weekends and take emergency jobs after hours where we can. Public holidays depend on the day. Call and we’ll tell you straight away what we can do.
Do you cover Wollongong and the Central Coast?
Yes. We cover Greater Sydney, the Illawarra from Helensburgh down to Shellharbour and Kiama, and the Central Coast from Gosford to Wyong, Terrigal and The Entrance.
Do emergency repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every emergency repair is backed by our 1-Year Labour Warranty in writing, and parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty on top of that.
