A garage door opener has to suit the door it lifts. A double sectional door needs a ceiling-mounted rail opener with enough pull for its weight, while a roller door uses a drive unit that mounts beside the drum. Insulated doors are heavier again. Fit the wrong unit and it strains, slows down and fails early.
We start by checking the door itself: the springs, the balance and how freely it runs by hand. A new motor on a badly balanced door is wasted money, so if the door needs a spring adjustment or a service first, we tell you. Then we recommend an opener that suits the door, the way you use it and your budget.

How do I know if my garage door motor needs replacing?
Common signs are a motor that strains or stops mid-way, grinding or very loud running, remotes that work only up close, or a unit old enough that parts are hard to find. We check the door and the motor first and tell you honestly whether a repair will do the job.
Which garage door opener brands do you install?
We supply and install openers from B&D, Merlin, ATA and Chamberlain, and service most other common brands. We recommend a unit based on your door type and weight, not on a single brand.
Can you automate a manual garage door?
Yes, in most cases. We first check that the door is balanced and runs freely by hand, because an opener should not be lifting a door that is out of balance. If the springs need adjusting, we tell you before quoting.
Can I control my garage door from my phone?
Yes. Many current openers support Wi-Fi control through the brand’s own app, either built in or with an add-on module. We can fit it and set it up on your phone during the installation.
What happens to my door in a blackout?
Without power, an opener cannot move the door, so you use the manual release. A battery backup keeps the opener running during a power cut, and we can fit one with most new openers.
How much does a new garage door opener cost?
It depends on the door, the opener and any extras such as smart control or battery backup. We give you a fixed-price quote for the opener and installation before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
