Most modern garage door openers use rolling-code technology. The remote sends a new security code every time you press it, so the signal can’t be copied or replayed by someone sitting in the street. It is great for security, and it is also why a new remote rarely works straight out of the packet.
Every brand pairs a little differently. B&D, Merlin, Chamberlain and ATA each use their own coding and their own button sequence on the motor. Buy the wrong remote online, or get one step out of order, and the motor simply ignores it. That is usually when people call us.

How long does it take to program a new remote?
Programming itself is quick. Most of the visit is testing the range, pairing any keypads or car buttons, and showing you how to add more remotes later. If you have also asked for a keypad install or a Wi-Fi opener setup, allow a little longer.
Will my existing remotes still work after you program a new one?
Yes. Adding a new remote does not delete the ones already paired, so your existing remotes keep working. We only erase remotes if you ask us to, for example after buying the house or losing a remote.
Do I need to know my garage motor model before I call?
No. A photo of the motor on the ceiling sent on WhatsApp is enough for us to identify the brand and the right remote. Most Sydney homes have B&D, Merlin, Chamberlain, ATA or Steel-Line openers.
Can you sync my car’s HomeLink or built-in button?
Yes. We pair HomeLink and built-in car buttons to garage door motors on site. Bring the car onto the driveway during the visit so we can test it.
What if my garage motor is old or the brand is discontinued?
We carry universal remotes that pair with most older motors. If your motor genuinely can’t accept a new remote, we will tell you honestly and quote a new opener as a separate option.
How much does a wireless keypad install cost?
It depends on the keypad and your motor. Keypad supply and install is quoted as one fixed price, which covers the keypad, programming, mounting, PIN setup and a quick demo. You get the price in writing before any work starts.
Can I program a remote myself using a YouTube tutorial?
Sometimes, if your motor is a common model, your remote is brand-matched and the tutorial matches your exact motor. Rolling-code motors need a specific button sequence that is easy to get wrong. If you have tried twice and it hasn’t worked, give us a call.
Can you set up Wi-Fi or smart garage door control?
Yes. We install and set up app-controlled openers and smart add-ons for Merlin, Chamberlain, B&D and ATA motors. You can open and close from your phone, get alerts when the door is left open and share access with family.
Is remote programming covered by a warranty?
Yes. Every remote and keypad job carries our 1-Year Labour Warranty. New remotes and keypads are also covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
